Committees : : Volunteer & Human Resources Committee

The Volunteer & Human Resources Committee exists to identify, recruit, orient, utilize, retain and recognize volunteers in order to carry out the ministry of Habitat for Humanity. The committee is responsible for ensuring that the program is volunteer-friendly and conductive to a rewarding experiencein order to maintain the highest possible level of participation.

Members of this committee are needed to:

  • Establish a breakdown of the pool of volunteers available to the affiliate by group (i.e. corporations, individuals, churches, homeowners, professionals, etc.)

  • Develop an annual strategic plan for volunteer recruitment, orientation and placement, in accordance with anticipated project and committee requirements.

  • Consult regularly with all other committees to identify volunteer needs, coordinate recruitment efforts, and generally communicate pertinent information related to volunteer management.

  • Assign volunteers to all Habitat projects and committees as required.

  • Establish policies and procedures for volunteer recruitment, orientation, placement, training and evaluation.

  • Manage the Human Resource Policies of Habitat for Humanity Huron County: Conflict of Interest Policy, Confidentiality Policy, Confidentiality Agreement, Privacy Policy, Privacy Procedure, Professional Standards Policy, Professional Standards Policy, Professional Standards Agreement, Conflict Resolution Guidelines, and others as developed.

  • Maintain a database of volunteers who have served and those who are interested in volunteering in the future, including their skill level and areas of interest(s).

  • Work with other committees to organize an annual volunteer recognition program.

  • Coordinate the involvement of Habitat partner families in all volunteering opportunities and special events.

  • Maintain accurate records of all registered and potential volunteers.

  • Maintain a record log of # of hours volunteered.
