Students in Grades 4 through 6 are writing stories and poems
about what home means to them. Teachers AND parents AND
others who engage with youth are encouraged to get them
involved in this creative project. Students have the opportunity to
give back to their community in a fun and meaningful way. Detailed

Habitat for Humanity Canada’s national writing contest is open and accepting submissions online or by mail until February 23, 2024.

For every story or poem entered by a Huron County student,
Habitat Huron County earns a $10 which helps us to build a home
for a local family. The national grand prize winner will receive a
$30,000 grant for their local Habitat, an iPad plus a pizza party for their class. In addition, 9 runners up will get a $10,000 grant for their local Habitat. 

Locally, Huron County student stories will be used in our 2024
marketing and public relations materials.
